What’s up guys,
it’s been a minute!
I know I say things are crazy all the time, but things are literally crazy…ALL THE TIME. But I’m here because a few of you asked me to share my experience with Laser Hair Removal at Bare Laser.
So up until this year I had been waxing my bikini area, but this lead to ingrown hairs and scaring… It got so bad that I eventually stopped waxing completely. (Honestly I wish I had never started because my skin is not looking great any more! 😦 ) After chatting to friends and doing some research I decided that I was ready to try Permanent Hair removal. Now if you’ve ever decided to do Laser, you’ll know, that shit’s expensive.
So the price put me off for a long time. But then I came across Bare one evening and grabbed their price list and they’re actually not that bad. So I bit the bullet and scheduled an appointment.
My First Appointment:
The lady at Bare was very thorough in her explanation of the process, she explained how it would feel, what I could expect from the hair in those areas after my appointment and how to care for the skin in the areas I was getting lasered: My underarms and Full Bikini.
The night before your appointment you have to shave the area completely. This was a weird concept for me, like I’m going to the appointment for hair removal, why am I doing it by myself the night before?! But then I found out that laser targets the root of the hair and gently, well, kills it.
Once you’re in the room, you lay on the bed, you get a cool set of glasses to wear and you let the therapist go to work at your bits.
Now a lot of laser salons advertise this treatment at “Pain-free”. Lol this is not the case at all. It hurts. Not more than waxing, but there is an element of pain involved. It basically feels like getting tiny pinpricks in your skin, but the pain is over as soon as it arrives and I found that by my second session it wasn’t nearly as painful as it was the first time. I found that distracting myself helps a lot with the pain, so at my last session I was just chatting away to the therapist and before I knew it, she had done my entire bikini area. Moral of the story: If you focus on the pain, it will hurt.
My therapist was more than happy to turn the intensity of the laser down for me when it got too unbearable my first time, so don’t be afraid to talk to them and tell them what’s happening. Everyone’s pain threshold is different.
What my therapist also told me is that the laser is able to target the dark marks on my skin (from the waxing) and after a few sessions those would be gone too. (Hallelujah!)
After My First Appointment:
I was scheduled for my next session two weeks later. My therapist told me I could shave as much as I liked but no plucking, threading or waxing – basically no hair removal that removes the hair from the root. That would take the pigment out of the root and the laser would have nothing to aim at at my next appointment.
Now be warned, your bits look a bit strange during the laser process, as some roots die faster, so you have a few bald spots here and there. I found that while exfoliating a lot of the smaller hairs that were growing back just fell out of the skin. It’s great.
After my second session the bald spots are getting bigger and I’m really starting to notice a difference in the hair that grows back, they’re exfoliated away really easily.
I’ve gone from needing to shave my underarms every day to doing it once every three days and that’s just after two sessions!!
How Long Will It Take to Permanently Remove the Hair?
So I was told it takes 10-12 sessions for the hair to be permanently removed. the first few are spaced two weeks apart and then after that the time between sessions gets longer, where you have 6 weeks between sessions. Some people may need a few more sessions but that’s because we are all different and your laser therapist will guide you and let you know what’s happening.
I’ll post another update about my Laser Journey after my 5th session and let you know how it’s going. In the mean time, why not check out Baresa.co.za and see what they have to offer, you won’t regret it.
This isn’t a sponsored post by the way, this is just me, a girl, telling you about my experience and wanting you to be fabulous with me.
Also, stop waxing.
Until Next time!

What’s Up my Beautiful 20 Somethings 💕
Wow it’s been a hot minute since I was in these blog streets. My life has been a bit on the crazy side, I’m currently juggling four jobs and trying to keep this little blog afloat. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and YouTube for regular updates if you’re feeling a bit neglected on here! 😁
Today reviewing a range I was gifted by African Extract. I was sent the following products: three items from their Classic Care Range: the Shea Butter Body Moisturizer, the Moisturizing Day Cream and their Multi-Purpose Tissue Oil. As well as their Facial Oil from their Advantage range, which I’ve reviewed in the past, click here to read my review.
I love African Extracts because their products are infused with bio-active Rooibos that contains high levels of antioxidants. Their brand is cruelty free and their products are supported by 35 natural plant ingredients. And they’re based in Cape Town where all of their products are produced locally!
I’ve been using the Shea Butter Body Moisturizer and the Moisturizing Day Cream everyday and my skin felt amazing from the first use. It leaves your skin feeling silky and smooth without leaving it looking or feeling oily. Their products are gentle on my skin and I honestly can’t stop touching myself. The texture of the body butter is a bit thick and takes a while to massage into my skin but the Day Cream rubs into my skin instantly. These are two great products for people who suffer from dry skin.
The Tissue Oil is a game changer for me, it can be used anywhere on your body; your face, your body and even your hair.
It main aim to revitalize your skin, reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks, as well as alleviate uneven skin tone. I’ve been using it on some scars from ingrown hairs (due to waxing) and it’s honestly made a huge difference. I apply it to all my flabbier bits too to prevent and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It even helped repair a scar on my face that I got from a burn- leaving the mark looking less aggressive on my chin. 🙈
I haven’t really tried it on my hair yet but it can be used for: Dry scalp and lifeless hair, as well as, Braids and dreadlocks.
I loved this range so much that I’ve even gone out and bought some of their other products. If you’re looking for an affordable addition to your skincare routine and you wanna support a local business, this is the brand for you.
Body Butter : R79,99
Tissue Oil : R119,99
Day Cream: R69,99
Daily Repair Facial Oil : R199,99
Have you used anything from this range? Let me know your favorites!
Until next time,
Whatsup 20 Somethings!
So if you follow me on Instagram, I have been trialling the latest products in the Tresemme Botanic Range for the past few weeks and I am excited to let you know what I think of them.
I’ve previously reviewed the Botanic Shampoo and Conditioner and the Co-Wash. Today’s review is focussing on the three new products in the range: The Rich Oil Mist, The Hair Food and the Pre-Wash Detangling Butter.
So a little background: Tresemme realised that South African women were wanting products for their natural hair that would help nourish and protect dry and damaged hair. So the South African Tresemme Team started to work on their own range for South African Women, by South African women, and this is how the Botanic Range was born. This range focusses on replenishing the moisture of your hair to leave it feeling soft and healthy. All the products are enriched with coconut oil and Aloe vera and is also free from silicones and dyes.
About the products…
The Hair Food: R39.99
This lightweight formula will help relieve dry and itchy scalp, while maintaining and protecting the hair’s natural moisture.
How to use:
Use the Botanic Moisture & Replenish Hair Food on damp or dry hair. Divide the hair into sections or lines using a tail comb. Base the hair food onto the exposed scalp. Massage the scalp working your way evenly onto the tips of your hair.
I love the way this product leaves my hair, as it’s incredibly shiny and light weight. You must not mistake it for a styling product however, this will not prevent frizz or define your curls- it’s main purpose is to lock in moisture an protect your hair and scalp. It’s a great product for women who are wearing protective styles, like braids, but want to ensure the health of their hair and scalp. I don’t think this is the right product for me with Type 3C hair, I’d recommend this for ladies with Type 4 Hair. Try not to use too much as it’s extremely oily.
Rich Oil Mist: R139.99
The formula of the Rich Oil Mist contains a botanical blend of coconut, corn and sunflower seed oils, with a splash of aloe vera. This product moisturises and softens the hair and helps make it more manageable. It’s meant to define the driest locks and leave the hair feeling moisturised and soft.
How to use:
Start with our Botanic Moisture & Replenish collection of shampoo and treatments to deeply cleanse and moisturise your hair. Our botanic rich oil mist can be applied on damp or dry hair.
For fine to normal hair, rub 1-2 pumps in the palms of your hands and apply from mid-lengths to ends.
For very dry hair, apply 3-4 pumps divide hair into sections and apply from root to tips.
This really did leave my hair feeling incredibly moisturised and soft, however I did not feel that it helped define my curls at all, I achieve better definition from other curl defining products, which annoys me that Tresemme describes it as a product that will help with definition. If you suffer from very dry hair, this is the product for you. However at R139.99 I do think it’s a unnecessary addition to your hair routine if you’re already using product that are made specifically for dry hair. It also left my hair feeling quite oily. Not my favourite product in the world.
Pre-Wash Detangling Butter: R79.99
This product is meant to make your wash routine easier. It detangles 4 times faster with less breakage and damage to the hair, according to Tresemme. It’s paragon free and dye free.
How to use:
How to use: Begin with the Botanic Moisture & Replenish Pre-wash Detangling Butter for notted and tangled hair. Split dry hair into sections and apply a generous amount from root to tips. Leave in for 3 minutes and gently comb to detangle hair. Rinse thoroughly and follow with the Botanic Shampoo and Conditioner routine for a clean and soft feel or use the Botanic Co-wash for intense moisturisation.
I was very excited when I heard about this product as I suffer from very tangled hair as well has extreme breakage. I like that it’s a pre-wash routine, which means that your hair is left manageable for the rest of your wash. On my first application I struggled to comb the product through dry hair and suffered from A LOT of breakage, I then experimented with dampening my hair after I had left the product on for three minutes and then combing through and this worked A LOT better for me. It makes your hair feel like silk which means it’s easy to comb through without much hassle.
It’s my favourite product in the new range of products.
Is it my favourite detangling product ever? No. But at R79.99 its worth adding to your hair routine if your hair is known to tangle.
If you wanna shop the Botanic Range you can use my link to get 30% off, as well as FREE SHIPPING!
I Suggest buying the shampoo and conditioner, the co-wash and the Pre-Wash Detangling Butter.
Let me know what you think of this range!
Until next time!

Last week Wednesday I was invited to attend the Kunjani Wines event to witness the unveiling of their new label!
It was an awesome event, bloggers were able to taste some of the amazing Kunjani Wines, explore their beautiful estate and their villas while mingling over some delicious finger foods and snacks.
I had the time of my life and got to meet and chill with some of my faves in the industry!
About Kunjani Wines (From their Press Release):
“At Kunjani we are all about greeting guests with a warm welcome, and the hands on the label represent a greeting between friends. Kunjani means ‘Hi, how are you?’ and that is exactly how friendships start,” says Pia Watermeyer, Kunjani’s co-owner.
Kunjani Wines is a new boutique winery high up on the Bottelary Hills outside Stellenbosch where good food, fine wine and luxurious accommodation combine to truly reflect the good life … and the true character of this spectacular place where love and passion are reflected in every creation.
Kunjani opened its doors in November 2017 and quickly became a favourite among gastronomes and wine lovers alike, as well as people who come to experience its luxurious villas with their spectacular views.
Kunjani’s New Wine Labels
But one is never too young to renew and innovate! After various awards for its wines and rave reviews for the restaurant and architectural design of its tasting room and restaurant, it was decided to bring the labels of the wines in line with the upmarket character of the facilities at Kunjani. The well-known design studio Haumann Smal was approached and new labels were designed.
The brief was to upgrade the existing labels into a more contemporary, sophisticated and timeless look. Paul Barth, Pia’s husband and co-owner, wanted to retain the two hands (one male, one female) doing a “fist bump” which symbolises a greeting, while Pia wanted to incorporate the architectural elements and colours of the building and restaurant. The new labels are printed in charcoal with a glossy high build to contrast with the matt paper.
The element of the two hands, redrawn in a graphic line work style, is placed in a small oval to be used on its own or as part of the logo and brand mark.
The farm is owned by a German entrepreneur, Paul Bath, and Pia Watermeyer, a South African businesswoman.
Their Wine Maker – Carmen Stevens
Carmen graduated from the Elsenburg Agricultural College near Stellenbosch in 1995, becoming the first black winemaker in South Africa.
She joined Distell as assistant winemaker for the Zonnebloem brand. Later she took on the role as winemaker for Distell’s new Tukulu brand, a black empowerment project.
Two award-winning top 10 Pinotages, a stint in California and representing Tukulu abroad was followed by a period at Welmoed for Stellenbosch Vineyards.
Then she spent 8 years at Amani where she won the 2008 Decanter Red Bordeaux Varietals Trophy for her Amani Cabernet Franc/Merlot 2006.
Kunjani has only 2½ hectares under vine, all shiraz, while Carmen also has access to nearby cabernet sauvignon and merlot vineyards. The estate’s Riesling is imported from Germany’s Rheingau region.
More about Kunjani:
The Estate has An amazing restaurant which will make any event or day out, a memorable one!
There are various self-catering Villas available on the estate for rent which sleep between 2 and 4 people!
They are fully equipped and include luxuries such as washers and dryers, coffee machines, wall-panel heating, air-conditioning, smart TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and private, shaded verandas with braai facilities.
It’s a small but beautiful estate which is a must see if you find yourself in Stellenbosch! Stop by Kunjani Wines and watch the sunset while sipping their amazing Chenin Blanc (my personal fave!) you won’t regret it!
Until next time!

What’s up 20 Somethings!
So I’ve been using one of the products I got in the Clicks Curls Goodie Bag for the past week: the Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk, Leave-in Moisturizer.
When I looked at the bottle I was like, “What is “Hair milk” even?” So let me tell you a bit about this product and the Carol’s Daughter Brand!
Carol’s Daughter Brand:
The brand was started by Lisa, who is…wait for it… Carol’s Daughter. And the entire brand is dedicated to the relationship between mothers and their daughters. The brand was inspired by the mother-Daughter relationship that leads to the lifelong relationship with our hair, passed down from generation to generation.
Lisa started the brand in 1993 in her Kitchen in Brooklyn (Yes! It’s an American Brand) it was meant only for close family and friends, but everyone loved it so much, that soon the brand grew into the name it is today!
“Love is, and always will be, our first ingredient.” – Lisa
The Hair Milk:
⁃ it’s aimed to keep dry hair from resulting in frizzy curls.
⁃ It helps protect your hair from breakage, thirst and unmanageability.
⁃ It contains Shea Butter to Hydrate your curls.
⁃ Soybean oil has been added to soften and strengthen your hair.
⁃ It also has Agave Nectar to lock in moisture and keep hair extra healthy
When you squeeze it out of the bottle, it literally looks like Milk…and the best way I can describe it, is that it feels like rubbing love over your hair. You don’t need a lot of it, because it spreads through your hair so effortlessly, enriching every strand.
It’s got a very, very strong scent, that made my sinuses get all defensive, but once your hair dries, the scent neutralizes a bit and it’s actually quite pleasant.
The product does exactly what it says it will, my Hair was less frizzy and it feels and looks more moisturized. I just wish the frizz control lasted a bit longer because two days after my wash day, I can see the frizz creeping in again. But as a leave-in conditioner, it’s great because you don’t need to accompany it with anything else in order to have curls that look amazing.
Where can you get it?
The brand has just launched in South Africa and can be found at any Clicks store for R299 or on Takealot for R265.
So it’s on the pricey side. Honestly, are there other products that can give you the same results for cheaper? Yes. But Carol’s Daughter is Paraben free, petroleum free, contains no mineral oil and no artificial colors- so that should be considered when thinking about the price.
Have you tried Carol’s Daughter before? Let me know what you thought in the comments!
For the past two weeks I’ve been testing out the new Dove Eventone Deodorant. The lovely ladies at Rubybox sent it my way and gave me some information on this new little product:
What makes it different?
Due to hair removal methods like shaving and waxing, you might find that your underarm skin may be feeling the effects of the harsh treatment- resulting in dark marks on the skin. Dove has created new Eventone Deodorant to combat dark underarms by creating a formula with 1/4 moisturizing cream and calendula extract to help improve the appearance of the underarms.
It also promises 48 hour protection!
It feels great to use and I have definitely felt an improvement in the skin under my arms, it feels much softer even after I’ve shaved and I’ve noticed an improvement in its appearance.
Here are my before and after pictures:
As for it promising 48 hour protection, I’m yet to find a Deodorant which promises this and actually means it. I’m an active girl and on days when I’m working out, I’ve experienced that I’ll need to apply this Deodorant more than once to stay fresh. On normal days, however it lasts at least 24 hours, but the smell does start to fade and the protection seems to wear of throughout the day, not leaving me as fresh as I would like.
All in all, it’s an awesome product if you’re looking to take care of your skin under your arms then this new formula is for you. As a Deodorant, it gets the job done to a certain extent but you may need to reapply during the day!
Here’s what my friend, Nicole had to say about it:
“I enjoyed the moisturising effect that Dove eventone has and the fact that it was sensitive enough for my skin. However I feel that it didn’t have enough odor control for me and didn’t it didn’t provide me with 48 hours of antiperspirant.”
Will you be trying this product out??
Until next time!
Every now and then, Rubybox sends me some products on behalf of their brother website, Manbox, for….wait for it, My Man!
This time they sent me the new Nivea Men’s Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for my boyfriend and the other men in my life who have been testing it out until now. Which promises #FlakeFree hair for your man, which I was excited about because my boyfriend, Warren, suffers from dry scalp and dandruff.
About Nivea Men Anti-Dandruff:
It’s formula frees up to 100% visible dandruff flakes and prevents reappearance with regular use. It works to bring men’s scalps back to a natural balance and contains bamboo extracts to strengthen his hair from the roots.
Here’s a picture of his hair right before he started using this shampoo:
After using it for two weeks, Warren’s hair feels incredibly soft and it looks much healthier and the best part is that he no longer has any dandruff, he really is flake free! It’s super refreshing to come across an anti-dandruff product that actually works. And it smells great, it’s a fresh smell that’s not too overpowering.
Here’s an after picture of Warren’s hair:
If your man suffers from dandruff, this might be the product he needs.
Until next time!
So in November 2018 I was approached by Kyle who runs Defined Physique Fitness to start training with him, to achieve my fitness goals.
Naturally, I jumped to the opportunity and started training immediately.
I’ve had a few experiences with personal trainers before, but never with one who is as dedicated to my personal goals as Kyle.
In our first session, he tested my fitness levels and asked me to identify the areas of my body I’d like to work on.
I’ll share them with you, because I like you:
- my arms are one of the most obvious areas on my body that show weight gain. I also have the upper body strength of a new born baby. I used to have great arms, so I’d just like to get them back to looking toned and strong.
- I’d also like to work at losing some belly fat and getting myself back to flat tummy vibes
- While I’m glad I’ve finally got a bit of a booty, I’d like to tone it and firm it a bit more.
- My legs are very strong but they could use some toning -I’d also like to try and eliminate cellulite through exercise.
Here’s what I used to look like:
So the goal is to try and find a happy medium between what I look like now and what I looked like then- because I like things about both my bodies. I’ve felt very insecure lately about my body because I’ve picked up a bit of weight, but through this fitness journey and working out, I’m slowly regaining my confidence and starting to love my body and all the amazing things it can do.
It’s easy to be body-positive when you can fit into anything in the store, I’m trying to love my body in every shape and form it may take.
Working with Kyle has helped me push past my limits, he’s always in the gym with me saying, “just one more rep, Nadine” – and that’s the type of push someone like me needs. Our workouts are focused on what I want to achieve but Kyle also knows that I have to perform 6-7 shows a week which requires me to dance, so he gives me workouts that don’t leave me too fatigued afterwards.
Here’s a few examples of workouts we’ve done this far:
I’ve already started to look a bit more toned and people have pointed out the difference in my body- but nothing can compare to the confidence I’ve gained over the past few months. And for that I’ll always be thankful.
If you’re looking for a trainer who is dedicated to your goals and helping you achieve them, give Kyle a call on +27 74 247 1352 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
Training takes place in Pinelands in a private gym, so you don’t have any muscle guys laughing at you while you’re struggling to do a push up (trust me, the struggle is real!)
I’ll be posting some update pics in a few weeks, so watch this space!
Until next time,
A few months ago, I came across this awesome app called DYME which allows you to book beauty appointments in the comfort of your own home or office.
It seemed like a great idea to me so I downloaded the app but never got around to booking an appointment.
This week though I teamed up with the team over at DYME to find out more about the app, it’s services and what an appointment entails.
I booked a full manicure with gelish in my lounge, which was pretty awesome. I didn’t have to worry about what I was wearing to go out, or if I was running late or think about where I’m going to park when I get there- nope! I literally just chilled at home till my nail technician arrived.
My nail technician arrived early with the biggest smile on her face ready to pamper me! Her name was Michelle and she was able to give me a lot of information about DYME.
The app has been around for just over a year now and is based on Cape Town, Joburg and Durban. Though it’s still fairly new, it’s become extremely popular in these cities. Services available include hair, make up, nail tech, maintenance, barber, manicure, pedicure, massage, lash extensions, hair removal, facials and couples therapy. Basically everything you need to keep yourself looking and feeling good!
My treatment went well, Michelle kept the conversation flowing and paid attention to detail – which is a must for me when getting my nails done. It takes her under 5 mins to set up and pack up. She made sure that I was happy at all times. I was extremely happy with my nails by the end of the appointment.
My first experience with DYME was amazing, and I will definitely be booking with them again soon.
If you’re interested in booking an appointment with DYME, download the app on your phone, choose your treatment and artist, then book the time and place! Wham bam you’re booked!
Don’t forget to use my promo code: DYME150 in order to get R150 off your appointment.
Who’s booking an appointment?!
Until next time!
